Our Costs…

The cost of rescue is huge. We rely solely on kind donations to carry out our work. We also value transparency and believe that this is important to show our supporters exactly where their money goes and how it is spent.

NB: We are all volunteers - both in Russia and the UK - and do not receive any income from ‘The Long and Short Of It’.

Daily Care: Approximately £60 per month, per dog.

This covers; food, worm and flea treatments, heating, grooming, transportation and vet visits. Any specialist veterinary diets, medicines, surgeries, or additional veterinary care, are NOT included in this cost.

Transportation to the UK, per dog:

  • Neutering - £50

  • Vaccinations - £20

  • Microchip - £5

  • Worm and Flea treatments - £20

  • Flight Nizhnevartovsk to Moscow (including one person, one dog, and one day dog crate storage) - £250

  • Moscow foster and transport - £25 - £50 (depending on days required)

  • Travel collar/harness and identification - £20

  • Pet Courier Van: Moscow to the UK - £500

  • Plus any additional veterinary care and/or treatments required at time of rescue, and foster care while in Nizhnevartovsk @ £60 per month for any amount of time - often years!

We do try to itemise and show receipts of additional costs on our social media pages. We often have new rescues requiring extra and/or ongoing treatments and these costs can sometimes be in the thousands… Any money we receive goes directly to the care and rescue of our dogs. All UK foster care is voluntary and at the expense of the fosterers. We do accept food and accessory donations in the UK for the foster dogs.
