Fostering a Dog.

As a small, not-for-profit animal rescue, we do not yet have the facilities in the UK to kennel all the dogs that need rescuing. So we rely almost entirely on the kindness and generosity of our foster carers. By taking care of a dog in your home temporarily, you can help them get back on their paws within a stress-free home environment, and ensure they are one step closer to finding their forever home.

We’re always looking for new foster carers to open their houses, and their hearts, to dogs who find themselves without a permanent home. When you become a foster carer, we provide you with support, advice, food, bedding - all that you could possibly need when caring for a dog. We’ll also fundraise and cover the costs of any veterinary treatment.

Who can become a foster carer?

You need to be:

  • Over the age of 18

  • Able to travel to vets appointments, training, adoption introduction meetings and so on.

  • Available for updates and potential adoption appointments.

Benefits of foster caring
Being a foster carer gives you all the joy of a rescue dog without the long-term commitment. It’s perfect for dog-lovers who aren’t ready to adopt a dog yet, but have lots of love to give.

How do I apply?
Please email us the_longandshortofitrescue@hotmail.com or call us on 07747 318 963, and we will send you a foster application form. Once completed and returned to us, we will then arrange a home check at your convenience.
